Range Extender

In the Hüttlin-Range-Extender® the internal combustion engine as well as the combined electric motor / generator are united in a common spherical case. This construction is particularly compact and light-weight. The simplicity of the construction design is economical in the manufacture of the unit and during its operation, and thus environment friendly.This video clip shows the function of the Hüttlin-Range-Extender®:

The rotor of the combustion engine is fixed to the rotor of the electrical generator, so the combustion engine always runs within the optimal range, significantly reducing fuel consumption and ecological impact.The main advantage against a purely battery-powered vehicle lies in the fact that the batteries here can be significantly smaller, i.e. less weight to be carried along. Also in the case of the Hüttlin Range-Extender the combustion engine can be switched off for local drives and the vehicle can be driven electrically.During braking and downhill drives the electric motor works as a generator recuperating the electrical energy regained and charging the batteries.Due to the low internal resistance of the combustion engine and the low weight of the complete aggregate significant amounts of fuel can be saved in comparison with current technological solutions .
